Bakgrunn og forskningsinteresser Utdannet cand. polit ved Universitetet i Oslo 2004.Hovedfagsoppgaven omhandler den nicaraguanske migrasjon til og fra USA. Phd prosjektet tar for seg sosiale og økonomiske endringsprosser knyttet til den stadig større betydningen av migrasjon og migrasjonspenger I Nicaragua Hoveddelen av feltarbeidet ble gjennomført i byen Esteli i Nicaragua, deler av feltarbeidet ble også gjennomført blant nicaraguanske migranter i Miami. I Phd prosjektet ønsker jeg å undersøke hvilken betydning dette økonomiske skiftet har for sosiale formasjoner som hushold, familie og sosialt hierarki. The dissertation examines the Nicaraguan migration to and from the United States. The PhD project addresses the processes of social and economic change related to the growing importance of migration and remittances in Nicaragua. Most of the fieldwork was conducted in the city of Estelí Nicaragua, the rest of the fieldwork was conducted among Nicaraguan migrants in Miami, USA. In the PhD project, I want to examine the impact of this economic shift has on social formations like household, family and social hierarchy.
